During the panel, Favreau and his close collaborator Dave Felloni — known for his work on the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series — mentioned that they drew loads of inspiration from the works of Akira Kurosawa (Seven Samurai) and old Hollywood Westerns, as well as the original Star Wars trilogy. Here’s the character line-up and also some really cool character posters.
Pedro Pascal – The Mandalorian
Pedro Pascal, known for his work in Game of Thrones and Narcos will be playing The Mandalorian (we still have no idea what his real name is). At the panel, Pascal revealed that “The Mandalorian is a mysterious, lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. Some might say he has questionable moral character.”
Gina Carano – Kara Dunne
Carano plays a former Rebel Shock trooper. She said, “I’m [Kara Dunne] a bit of a loner, and I’m having a bit of trouble re-integrating myself into society.”
Carl Weathers – Grief Marga
Carl Weathers who famously played Apollo Creed in the first few Rocky movies is Grief Marga, the head of a bounty hunter guild. “He’s looking for someone to go after a product to bring to a client, that’s very valuable.” Unfortunately, the teaser trailer for The Mandalorian was only screened for people who attended the panel at Star Wars celebration itself. Those watching on the live stream did not get the chance to check it out. The Mandalorian will premiere with Disney Plus this November. However, it’s still unclear when exactly Disney Plus will be available in Malaysia.
