On paper, the Momentum True Wireless 2 are 2mm smaller than its predecessor. More importantly, the earbuds now come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC); a feature that the original Momentum True Wireless shipped without at launch. Moving on, Sennheiser also says that the Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds also feature come with improved battery life. Addressing a battery drain issue that many users complained about with its first-generation true wireless earbuds, by using a different Bluetooth chip that it says “counteracts any power drain possibilities”.
Fully charged, the new earbuds reportedly give seven hours of non-stop listening, while the casing carries an additional 28 hours. Simply put, that’s a total of four additional charges inside the earbuds’ casing. Specs-wise, the Momentum True Wireless 2 comes with support for Bluetooth 5.1, AAC, and Qualcomm’s aptX codecs. They also come with a water resistance rating of IPX4.
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds will first see availability in the US and EU sometime in April, and will retail for US$299.99 (~RM1279). At the time of writing, Sennheiser Malaysia did not specify local pricing or availability. Considering that the first-generation Momentum, True Wireless currently retail for RM1489, it’s very likely that the 2nd generation true wireless earbuds will retail at a considerably higher price when it arrives on our shores.
